Frequently asked questions
To be featured in an issue of Cobalt, you must submit a piece of creative work to our submissions email address: cobaltsubmissions@gmail.com. We accept submissions based on a theme every term, and usually release dates to members early. All members have a space in the magazine reserved for their work, but we cannot guarantee that everyone will always be able to receive space.
You can send us any and all creative work.
We ask that it is at least loosely based on the theme of the issue.
For more details about the specifics of the work you can send us, such as word count, photo resolution, number of submissions, and other inspiration, see our "Submissions" page.
One magazine is released every term. We also sometimes release a Special Edition, but this does not have a set publication date. All dates are given to members via our Instagram.
You can get involved by running for an Executive position at the end of every academic year. These positions involve being on the Executive committee for the society, and are usually for those who wish to become a named role member, such as President or Editor.
You can also apply to be a Deputy in September/October, which is more casual. This involves helping out with editing, production work, social media, or even Vice Presidency.
See our social media for more details of upcoming elections and hirings.
You can feature a society you are a part of if you are an executive member of that society.
In every Issue, we offer the option to feature a "Featured Exec", where a member or several members of another SU Society get a central, double page spread in the magazine.
This is free for any SU Society, however, we do ask that you either provide a piece of creative work in theme with the issue on your society's behalf, or be willing to take part in a short interview.
